Kilovac Corporation was founded in 1964 and operated in Pasadena, California until 1970 at which time it relocated to our current location in Carpinteria, California. In October 1995, Kilovac merged with Communications Instruments Inc (CII) to form one of the largest relay company doing business in the United States (CII Technologies). A list of Kilovac's major milestones in its 35-year history is included at the end of this section.

Kilovac is the only manufacturer of gas-filled relays used in many capacitive discharge applications up to 180 kV, including laser range-finders, electrostatic testing and coating, kidney stone lithotripters, and heart defibrillators. In fact, Kilovac relays are used exclusively by all leading manufacturers of heart defibrillators. In addition, Kilovac's years of research and development into the problems associated with 270 Vdc power switching have given the company a significant lead in expertise and products which are required for next-generation aircraft and electric vehicles.
Most recently, Kilovac expertise in management & technology was recognized by CII Technologies when the recently acquired Wilmar Electronics protective relay line was absorbed into our manufacturing operations.
