SnakeEyeâ„¢ achieves its versatility with an interchangeable camera head that can be attached to a rigid wand, a ring finger attachment or extendible cables. SnakeEyeâ„¢ comes equipped with a full range of accessories and also has plug-in capabilities, one of which allows the user to connect to a standard VCR or DVR to record and playback images.
SnakeEyeâ„¢ is designed to function in harsh industrial and commercial environments and is constructed of high impact, heavy duty plastic that can withstand shock and vibration. SnakeEyeâ„¢ resists water, dust, and dirt particles and can also be used where grease and non-solvent based chemicals are present.
It still works great. I purchased 2 extra batteries, a 30’ extension cord (100’ cable available from manufacturer), and a “Gooseneck†accessory that can be bent into any shape needed to access hard-to-reach spaces for inspection. The batteries do hold a charge, but may need to be replaced. The manufacturer, Aqua Communications (http://aquacomm.com), still sells the same batteries. In fact, one unit they now sell looks essentially the same as this one, and the accessories are still the same. It can be operated with the AC/DC adaptor, as well as the vehicle 12VDC adaptor, and both adaptors operate the battery charger (both included). PLEASE NOTE: The chargers will not produce an image on the handheld screen, but will produce an image on a TV when the analog output is connected to it. It has an 18†rigid wand that has a trigger with which to articulate the camera head 90 degrees, and a ring attachment that straps to your finger or anything of similar size for inspecting tricky spaces. The 30’ extension cord is great for accessing chimneys and such; I would attach the camera to chimney rods to inspect vent interiors. There is also a 4’ cable. It also has an adaptor with RCA plug outputs for hooking up to any recording device (DVR, VCR, etc.) and TV’s that have RCA type inputs (standard red, white and yellow audio/video). The camera head has built-in LED lights for visibility in dark spaces, switched at the display unit, which also has a brightness control for the TFT screen, and a sun shield for viewing in daylight conditions.

1. There is no screen flip function on this one. The button at the same spot is a brightness control for the monitor.
2. The video I/O operstion is different. This unit uses a short adaptor that has two RCA male plugs coming out from the the male connector that plugs into the unit. It does receive video input through that adaptor from other sources, as well as NTSC analog output.
