These magnets have nearly unlimited applications! Due to their size and dimensions, they are ideal for pressing into holes, for use in knife, tool holders, holding doors closed etc.
It should be noted, that a large stack of these becomes a "large magnet" and at that point, the risks of getting pinched, or damaging electronics are greater.
Many folks believe that magnetic therapy has some value in reducing pain, and healing the body. Although we don't promote this, and feel that it remains an issue of controversy, these particular magnets are often sold for this application. You will find companies who deal in magnetic therapy selling this same product for 10 to 20 times this price! We'd suggest, that if magnetic therapy interests you, do your own research - come to your own conclusions. If it is something you care to experiment with, these magnets could save you lots of $$! I use small magnets like these in the drain plugs of engines. Especially small engines, and often antique car engines which have no oil filter - in my Ford Model A, it's astonishing to see the amount of iron these magnets pull from the oil between frequent oil changes! Although NdFeB magnets have a maximum operating temperature of around 300 deg F, oil in an engine should never get that hot (if it does, the magnets will be the least of your concerns!).
These are invaluable in the shop for organizing tools, holding down sockets in tool boxes, and keeping the chuck key handy near the lathe or drill press. Once people hold them in their hand they realize the many new applications and possibilities that small magnets with this incredible strength have to offer.
They're Brittle!: These magnets are brittle. Should two magnets snap together hard, or snap onto a ferrous surface, they could break or chip. This is really more of an issue with some of our larger magnets, these small ones are fairly tough, and although I have seen them break/chip on occasion, there is little risk of this.
Electronics and magnetic storage medium: Magnetic fields can temporarily, or permanent damage certain electronic devices and magnetic storage medium. Keep them away from computers, computer monitors, cassette tapes, floppy disks, etc. With these smaller magnets, you should be safe if you keep them at least 3" away. But again, if you have a large stack - a little extra care and distance would be appropriate.
Like any other potentially dangerous item or substance, these magnets are perfectly safe when treated with care and stored properly. Treat them with the same respect you would power tools, knives, ammunition, etc. Your magnets (unless they're small refrigerator magnets) should be kept in a safe place away from electronics and out of the reach of children. Properly stored and carefully handled, these magnets are perfectly safe and should last a lifetime!
