Temperature controller -40C to +105C solar heating etc.

Two Electronic Thermostatic Controller Units.
SOLAR COLLECTOR / MASS ENERGY SWITCH / SOLAR POWER / COMPOSTER
Made for controlling a Unit Heater / Furnace in industrial buildings. But Wait, there are other uses for these.! Solar , steam , ...read on.
Basically an ideal electronic thermostat. Add a 16 - 24ACV output wall wart (ac wall adapter) AC voltage source, and one can switch things ON at a screwdriver adjustable temperature point. If you may need a 'Gas OFF" on rising temperature then two traces can be cut and destinations swapped to do the easy change.
These may provide you with a real good shortcut to a slick temperature controller for low voltage circuits. ... My thought was for an application in solar collector technology. Rooftop solar panels using air as medium to be heated by sun and when chamber temp rises, turn on the fan, you get the idea. Brainstorming only one possibility.
Solar hot air / water panels, fish tanks, beer brewing, hot water floor heating, animal cages, incubators, room controllers, environmental chambers, freeze-up prevention, compost controller or printed circuit board etching tank heater control. Maybe a Gerbil warmer.? :-)
The 25 turn adjusting pot can be set to switch at anywhere from - 40 degrees C to 100+ with deadband of 0.5C,(1.5F) degrees. Basically, a chatter/glitch free triac switches the gas solenoid (up to 3A, fused) at 12 - 24 volts AC. Can be easily changed to control 120VAC at 3A. Has built in rectification, 12VDC regulation for circuitry power. Output uses a 10A Triac and is opto isolated. As an important note, the proper circuit was used on the opto triac driver too. I've seen other designs that ignored/forgot the proper MOC3010 type snubbers with fatal fallout.. The output is a basically a solid state switch that is isolated from the rest of the circuitry. This "switch" can be wired to use the AC that is used to power the module but bear in mind the Wall Wart current will be the max you can work with. The controller itself needs at least 18VAC to work properly. There are various mods that are noted on the supplied schematic.
Temperature above setpoint Gas Valve circuit OFF, Led ON
Temperature below setpoint Gas Valve circuit ON, Led OFF
Power "ON" indicator Green LED
Overide /bypass slide switch (logic off, output forced ON, conducting).
Temperature probe is 30 inches long with a 1K 1% Allen Bradley thermistor at the tip. (The 2 other wire pairs are 36" long). Turn ON / turn OFF lag was determined by the heat exchanger mass. 0.5 C differential. The 25 turn SET POINT adjustment is through the middle hole on the front panel. Can be set anywhere from -40 up to 100 Celsius. (212F)
ABS type plastic enclosure is provided for the circuit board. Makes for a nice module that is self contained. The images show a box with two corner holes drilled straight through to mount the box to a wall. The other two corners for regular screws to hold the cover on. Looking at the images, you will see labels. These can be easily peeled off and your own put on. Great to know, if you are going to re-sell them for another application. All have been pre set to 54C for temperature setpoint. You will receive assembled complete units as shown . BTW, The circuit board was shown without wires for clarity of image.
NOTE: I ONLY charge the ACTUAL COST of mailing and VERY VERY little for materials.
The box alone costs me $1.28. I can't do anything about the Post Office. $COST$ :-(
