10 LARGE INSULATING CABLE CLAMPS
These cable clamps accept a cable up to 5/8" diameter. They appear to be made of plastic, but it is certainly a much higher quality material such as phenolic or bakelite. They are much harder than ordinary plastic, and resist chipping or breaking when struck with a hammer, and even my sharpest knife has little affect when I try to test the hardness of this material. I suspect they equal or exceed the insulating properties of ceramic, without the risk of breaking easily. They have a slotted mounting hole that will accept a 3/16" dia bolt or nail, and the recess will allow a bolt with a head of 1/2" width to be completely enclosed within the recess of the clamp. There is also a small threaded insert in the end which will accept a small bolt, but I'm not sure exactly what size (possibly a #6 or #8 x 1/2"), although that's probably not intended as the primary mounting method. The design of these clamps is such that they allow the cable to be attached under (or over) the edge of a horizontal surface, by mounting the clamp to the outside vertical edge.
Manufacturer is unknown, but the original cost paid by the government was $25.00 each! I have a large quantity and can supply these in any batch lot up to 1,500 pieces. I'm not sure if these numbers will mean anything, but here's the markings on the bag: 6P1420LWM024030, 3034135-54 A, N00030-80-C-0080. The packing date appears to be 11/81.
